This Comedian Just Bought the Weather Channel

Comedian Byron Allen has just made a big purchase. Through his company Allen Media, the comedian has acquired the Weather Group. Allen is the Founder, Chairman, & CEO of Entertainment Studios.

The Weather Group is the parent company of The Weather Channel TV network as well as the Local Now streaming service.

There were no details revealed on how much he paid for the company, but some sources have said the purchase price was roughly around $300 million.

“The Weather Channel is one of the most trusted and extremely important cable networks, with information vitally important to the safety and protection of our lives,” said Byron Allen.

“We welcome The Weather Channel, which has been seen in American households for nearly four decades, to our cable television networks division. The acquisition of The Weather Channel is strategic, as we begin our process of investing billions of dollars over the next five years to acquire some of the best media assets around the world.”

The Weather Channel is available in around 88 million U.S. homes.
