Hollywood Celebrities Charged in College Cheating Scheme

Getting into a highly accredited university is the dream of many students and those who get in under good merit should feel very proud of themselves.

Then you have some people who think they can pay their way in.

Lori Loughlin, known for “Full House”, and Felicity Huffman, known for “Desperate Housewives”, are two Hollywood actresses, among many other people, who have been charged in a college entrance exam cheating scheme.

According to court documents which were unsealed this week in Boston, there was $25 million floating around in this sceme that has gone on years. The scheme focused on helping students get into elitie universities such as Yale, Stanford, USC, and UCLA.

The universities reportedly recruited athletes, regardless of their athletic abilities, and helpied potential students cheat on their college exams.

The FBI recorded phone calls involving the celebrities and a cooperating witness, according to the criminal complaint.

The plot involved Georgetown University, Stanford University, UCLA, the University of San Diego, USC, University of Texas, Wake Forest, and Yale, said federal prosecutors.

There’s no indication that the schools were involved.

44 people have been charged so far, including university coaches.
