ViacomCBS Appoints Brian Robbins as Studio CEO

ViacomCBS has reorganized the leadership at Paramount Studios and has named Brian Robbins as CEO.

The move comes after reports have recently surfaced that ViacomCBS owner Shari Redstone has been displeased with the direction of Paramount Pictures.

According to a newsletter written by former Hollywood Reporter editorial director Matthew Belloni, Redstone wanted films like “A Quiet Place: Part II” and “Jackass Forever” for Paramount+.

Instead, “A Quiet Place: Part II” was released in theaters in late May.

The movie made nearly $270 million in global ticket sales on an estimated production budget of about $60 million. “Jackass Forever” has been postponed until February 2022.

The company announced Monday that Paramount Pictures CEO and Chairman Jim Gianopulos would hand over control of the studio to Robbins.

Robbins, who has worked with Nickelodeon, will oversee all of the films produced for streaming service Paramount+, and its kids and family content. He will also continue his current role of heading up Nickeldeon.

Gianopulos will remain in an advisory role through the end of the year.

The company also announced Monday that Paramount Television Studios will become part of its premium network group under the leadership of Showtime Networks Chairman and CEO David Nevins.

Nicole Clemens will continue on as president of Paramount Television Studios and will report directly to Nevins
