Apple Announced Some Big Updates at the WWDC 2020
Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) just happened and the tech giant had some pretty exciting reveals. The WWDC conference is being held remotely this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The iPhone maker announced that iOS 14 would have a new home screen for its iPhones, its iPadOS 14, its macOS Big Sur, and watchOS 7.
iOS 14 includes updates such as the ability to set a default mail app or browser app, a redesigned home screen, and new lightweight software programs called “App Clips.”
iOS 14 also includes a new feature called “App Library” that automatically organizes apps. Users can also delete entire pages of apps in one tap, or see similar apps, like all of the games from Apple Arcade, using App Library.
The Messages app also gets new updates with iOS 14, including mentions, new Memoji features including an avatar wearing a face mask, and a new interface for group texts that enables threads to be pinned to the top of the app.
Apple also said that it will begin to switch to using its own Apple chips instead of Intel chips in Macs. According to the company, the transition from Intel will enable the company to offer faster performance on its laptops and desktops.
CEO Tim Cook said that Apple will ship its first Macs with its own chips by the end of the year and that Apple plans for the transition to take about two years.
Last week Jefferies analyst Kyle McNealy reiterated a Buy rating on Apple shares and upped his target price to $405, from $370.
