Tesla’s Elon Musk Just Called the Coronavirus Panic “Dumb”

Tesla CEO Elon Musk is never afraid to speak his mind and he did just so last week about the coronavirus panic.

Musk tweeted Friday to over 31 million followers that people are overreacting about the deadly COVID-19 and wrote, “The coronavirus panic is dumb.”

His remark comes on the heels of many tech companies on the West Coast asking employees to work from home. Facebook,
Microsoft and Amazon have all confirmed at least one employee or contractor has tested positive for the virus in the state of Washington. Each company has updated its remote work policies in response to the virus spreading.

Tesla has recently confirmed that the coronavirus outbreak may have a material adverse impact on the electric vehicle maker’s business.

Many did not take Musk’s tweet well and responded to the CEO in anger and shock.

3YearLetterman tweeted back, “Elon, no offense, but you aren’t allowed to comment on American issues when all you’ve done is being imported, glorified golf carts (Teslas) into this country. Panic isn’t even a real word. And this is coming from a youth football coaching legend, not some random clown.”

4EverNeverTrump responded on Twitter with, “I’m totally amazed that somebody who owns a company where employees can’t work from home would call taking steps to protect workplaces from a highly-infectious disease “dumb”…”

Early Monday morning President Trump also tweeted, “So last year 37,000 Americans died from the common Flu. It averages between 27,000 and 70,000 per year. Nothing is shut down, life & the economy go on. At this moment there are 546 confirmed cases of CoronaVirus, with 22 deaths. Think about that!”
