Tesla Sales Employees are Petitioning to Get a Higher Base Pay

Posted on

It was last year that electric vehicle maker Tesla had commission cuts for sales employees and this year they aren’t taking it sitting down.

The employees are petitioning for higher base pay as responsibilities increased in the second half of 2019.

Some current and former sales employees of the company explained to CNBC that bonuses and commissions were cut.

Dare Brewer, a Tesla advisor based in Richmond, Virginia, sent an email on Jan. 9th that said that many sales roles had been consolidated and there was “a very slight increase in base pay and a devastating decrease in commission.”

She added, “Therefore, we are requesting a 15% increase in base pay to bring us closer to a living wage.”

The petition is publicly accessible on a site called Coworker.org, where Brewer and other un-named Tesla employees wrote: “So far the response from our local managers has been to divide and intimidate us in our efforts.”

By Wednesday morning the petition had garnered 187 signatures.
