Apple’s Tim Cook and President Trump are Doing This Together

According to sources, President Trump is about to tour tech giant Apple’s operations in Texas alongside the company’s CEO Tim Cook.

A CNBC report, citing two people familiar with the situation, has reported that U.S. President Donald Trump and Apple CEO Tim Cook are expected to tour facilities in Texas where Apple products are made.

The trip has not yet been announced and Apple declined to comment. A spokesperson from the White House said the office has no scheduling announcements at this time.

According to filings with trade regulators, it was earlier this month that Apple had requested the Trump Administration waive tariffs on Chinese made Apple Watches as well as iPhone components and other consumer products.

It was in August that President Trump and Cook had dined together and Apple received some tariff relief with Trump commenting that

Tariff relief for Apple came after the Trump and Cook dined together in August, and Trump said Cook “made a good case” that tariffs could hurt the company against South Korean rival Samsung Electronics Co Ltd 005930.KS, whose products would not be subject to the same levies.
