Apple Watch May be Getting a Sleep Tracking Feature
According to a report from 9to5Mac, tech giant Apple may be working on a sleep tracking feature for its Apple Watch.
The feature is anticipated to be revealed at the company’s big event on Sept. 10th in Cupertino, California.
9to5Mac has reported that Apple will be launching the new sleep monitoring feature dubbed “Time in Bed tracking.” Internally the feature is being called “Burrito.”
There has been no first party way for Apple Watch owners to track their sleep but with the acquisition of sleep tracking company Beddit in 2017, it may now be a reality soon.
Apple is expected to introduce new Apple Watches during its iPhone event and there is no word on whether consumers will have to buy a new Apple Watch to use this feature.
9to5Mac stated, “One of the issues with wearing an Apple Watch during sleep is that many users choose to charge their Apple Watch at night. Apple thought about this and developed a feature that will remind users to charge their Watch beforehand so they can get through the night.”
“When wearing the Watch during bedtime, if the user wakes up and starts their day before their alarm goes off, it will automatically turn off the alarm. The alarm will also play only on Apple Watch, using the iPhone as a backup. There will also be an option to use a silent alarm that only vibrates the Apple Watch.
The new bedtime system will enable Do Not Disturb automatically when the user goes to bed. There will also be a new complication available for sleep tracking.”
According to the report, the feature will remind users to charge the watch before bed so that it doesn’t run out of battery.
