Amazon’s Top Treasurer Has Left the Company

After 15 years of taking care of e-commerce giant Amazon’s money, the top treasurer has left the building.

Amazon’s global treasurer, Kurt Zumwalt, left the company last week says sources familiar with the matter.
Zumwalt was with Amazon for 15 years and managed the company’s cash balance, investment portfolio and debt financing. He recently updated his LinkedIn profile and said he left this month.

The sources, who remain anonymous, asked to not be named as the news isn’t yet public.

Amazon’s senior vice president of worldwide business development also said last month that he is leaving for one year. Then Prentis Wilson, the company’s vice president of Amazon Business, also left to join start-up company Boxed.

Many other executives have left the company including Sunny Jain, who ran Amazon’s health and personal care business, including the PillPack division. He went to Unilever in March. Chee Chew, vice president of consumer engagement, became chief product office at Twilio in January.

Zumwalt, who also sits on the board of the United States Tennis Association, had started his career with Bank of America. He was also the treasurer of Wind River which was acquired by Intel in 2009 for $884 million.
