Amazon is Doing This to Keep Your Packages Safe
Ordering stuff online has become one of the easiest conveniences for many Americans but sadly sometimes packages are stolen before they can be delivered to the rightful person.
E-commerce giant Amazon has announced that it will soon deliver packages to garages so that they won’t get stolen. Called Key for Garage and Key for Business, Amazon made the announcement about the two new services at CES on Monday.
The company said that Key for Garage will allow customers to have packages delivered right into their garage while Key for Business gives delivery drivers a special key fob for commercial and residential deliveries.
In order to have Key for Garage, a $80 Chamberlain myQ Smart Garage Hub will be needed which will allow Amazon to speak to a garage door opener so that it can be opened by a delivery person. An Amazon Prime subscription is also necessary if you want packages delivered inside the garage however the garage can still be opened remotely from the Amazon Key app even if you don’t have Prime.
Separately Amazon received coverage and a “buy” rating from Pivotal Research Group this week. The firm has given the stock a $1,920 price target by the end of the year.
Analyst Brian Wieser wrote, “Despite its current massive size, we see Amazon’s opportunities as mostly unconstrained based on a successful track record of capitalizing on consumer and IT department spending.”
The firm has also projected that Amazon’s digital advertising business will continue to be a source of revenue growth. The division grew about 70% last year. Shares of Amazon rose nearly 30% in 2018.
