Val Kilmer to Return in Top Gun Sequel
This could be the greatest news if it’s actually true.
According to a source who has knowledge of the production, there may be a Top Gun sequel in the works!
The individual spoke to TheWrap and said that Val Kilmer would start opposite of Tom Cruise in the “Top Gun: Maverick.”
It’s been over 20 years since the two were in the action blockbuster. Kilmer played aviator Tom “Iceman” Kazansky.
In the sequel, Tom Cruise’s aviator Pete “Maverick” Mitchell is a mentor to a new generation of fighter pilots in the U.S. Navy.
The film is expected to hit theaters next July and is being directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and David Ellison. Cruise is also a producer.
Kilmer posted on Facebook and said, “This is a long way off so calm down. This has been talked about for a long long time and being offered a role is very different from doing a role. I jumped the gun with my post. I jumped the topgun… An innocent mistake. It was just such a wonderful phone call with my agent…”
