Netflix just made its first acquisition and it’s a comic book company. The streaming video company has acquired independent comic book publisher Millarworld.

Millarworld is the creator of “Kick-ass,” “Kingsman,” and the “Wanted” series. The film version of “Wanted” was released in 2008 and made $341.4 million worldwide.

The big announcement was made on Monday and Netflix says it has plans to turn the franchises into films, series and kids’ shows. Millarworld will continue to create more and new stories but under Netflix.

Mark Millar is the creator of Millarworld and he’s responsible for stories such as “Old Man Logan,” which is the basis for the film “Logan.”

Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos commented, “Mark is as close as you can get to a modern day Stan Lee.” Stan Lee is the one who created The Hulk and Spiderman.
