Young Boy Flies Off Of A Three-story Waterslide
What should have been a fun day at a water park turned into a nightmare for a young boy and his family and onlookers.
The Wave at Emerald Glen Park in Dublin, California just had its opening day this past Saturday and has made headlines already because a 10-year old boy flew off one of their waterslides.
“Obviously that’s not what you want to have happen on your first day,” commented Linda Smith, the assistant city manager for the City of Dublin speaking to ABC station KGO-TV in San Francisco. “But we want everyone who comes to this park to have a safe and fun experience and that’s our primary goal.”
The boy lived thankfully and was even able to walk after his fall to the first aid room. Smith said that the boy “seemed to be in shock, but seemed to be OK.”
While there is no explanation or reason yet for why the boy fell off of the slide, Smith said that the park is closing down three of its waterslides pending further inspection.
“We take safety very seriously and we are going to make sure that before we re-open those slides that they are safe for use,” Smith said.
“Our thoughts are with the family that had this experience. We are going to do everything we can to make sure that doesn’t happen again.”
