Don’t Be A Victim To The “Can You Hear Me Now” Phone Scam

If you receive a phone call from someone who asks you, “can you hear me?” hang up immediately!

This is a new phone scam circulating around the country where scammers are able to use your recording of saying “yes” to authorize unwanted charges on a phone or utility bill or on a purloined credit card.

Susan Grant, the director of consumer protection for the Consumer Federation of America commented, “You say ‘yes,’ it gets recorded and they say that you have agreed to something.

“I know that people think it’s impolite to hang up, but it’s a good strategy.”

If you’ve already said yes, hurry and check your credit card, phone and cable statements for any unfamiliar charges.
