Uber Just Said Peace Out To California

Uber has decided to ditch California and head to Arizona with their self driving test cars.

The company has been in a week long battle with regulators like the California Department of Motor Vehicles because it lacked proper permits.

The DMV revoked the registration of 16 of Uber’s self-driving cars.

“Our cars departed for Arizona this morning by truck,” an Uber spokeswoman said in a written statement. “We’ll be expanding our self-driving pilot there in the next few weeks.”

The Californian DMV requires a permit to test autonomous vehicles on public roads but Uber refused to apply for the permit, arguing that state regulations do not apply to its cars, which require constant monitoring and interference by someone in the car.
