The 2016 Emmy Nominations Are In
The 68th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards are on the way, and the nominations have just been announced. Let’s go over some of the nominations!
“The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story” came out with 22 nominations. Stars Cuba Gooding Jr. and Courtney B. Vance both received the nod for outstanding actor in a miniseries category. Sarah Paulson landed one for lead actress, and the show received one for best limited series.
Though the fictionalized version of one of the biggest court cases in history got a whopping 22 nominations, it still didn’t beat “Game of Thrones.” “Game of Thrones” received 23.
This year’s choices for outstanding drama series are: “Game of Thrones,” “Better Call Saul,” “Downton Abbey,” “Homeland,” “House of Cards,” “The Americans,” and “Mr. Robot.”
The stars to receive nominations for outstanding actor in a drama series are: Kyle Chandler, Rami Malek, Bob Odenkirk, Matthew Rhys, Liev Schreiber and Kevin Spacey.
Lead actress nominations went to: Claire Danes, Viola Davis, Taraji P. Henson, Tatiana Maslany, Keri Russell and Robin Wright.
Nominations for outstanding lead actor in a comedy series went to “Black-ish” star Anthony Anderson, Aziz Ansari, Will Forte, William H. Macy, Thomas Middleditch and Jeffrey Tambor.
Nominations for outstanding comedy series are: “Master of None,” “Modern Family,” “Silicon Valley,” “Transparent,” “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” and “Veep.”
CNN also received a staggering 9 nominations, including 5 for “Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown.”
