J.D. Power Ranks Lexus, Toyota, and Porsche as Top Most Reliable Cars in America
According to J.D. Power, three car manufacturers have topped the list of the most reliable cars in America.
They are Toyota, Lexus, and Porsche.
In the 2019 J.D. Power U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study, Toyota’s luxury brand Lexus was the top spot. It has hit this mark for eight years in a row. Toyota came in second, tying with Porsche. It was the first year that Porsche’s 911 sports car won the first-ever award for the most dependable vehicle in the industry.
GM’s Chevrolet came in fourth this year and Buick placed fifth. GM also won the most vehicle segments, with five, followed by Toyota, which won four.
The study measures the number of problems per 100 vehicles, found a 4 percent overall improvement for the industry from the previous year. This means 2019 is the best-ever year for vehicle dependability.
“But I wouldn’t say that everything is rosy,” remarked Dave Sargent, vice president of global automotive at J.D. Power.
“Vehicles are more reliable than ever, but automakers are wrestling with problems such as voice recognition, transmission shifts and battery failures.”
