Apple’s iWatch may have some heavy competition soon as people start be lining up for the Cowatch.

The Cowatch is the world’s very first smartwatch integrated with Amazon Alexa cloud-based intelligent voice service that is compatible with both iOS and Android devices. What makes the watch stand out especially is its price tag at $279. Those who pre-ordered on IndieGoGo were able to get it for $159.

Chinese company iMCO launched the crowdfunding campaign for CoWatch back in April but the watch has been in the works for over a year.

“We knew the future is in wearables and from there the idea of CoWatch was born,” says Eric Jin from the CoWatch Development Team.

We can already talk to Siri and Google, but this is the first time we will be able to talk to Alexa on our wrists.

The functionalities will let users use Alexa to pay bills, hail a ride with Uber, make phone calls, and even hear the latest traffic report.

As far as its appearance, the CoWatch is made entirely of stainless steel, with the exception of the display and a ceramic ring. Both features that the company says is for looks and to boost wireless connectivity. The display is a 1.39-inch touchscreen, AMOLED display with a resolution of 400 x 400.

A single physical button on the side turns the display on and off and with a long press it brings up the settings menu of the watch.

Included is one gigabyte of RAM and 8GB of flash memory while battery life is standard and expected to last about a day and a half with the watch fully functioning.
