Woody Harrelson Only Spent $500 On His Wedding

Woody Harrelson is an actor, an Emmy award winner, and a millionaire. So when people find out his wedding cost only $500, it can be surprising for them.

Harrelson wasn’t always rich though. He was struggling in New York and making ends meet which helped him learn how to be conservative in some financial regards.

Of his time in NYC, Harrelson told Davy Rothbart of Wealthsimple, “I waited tables mostly, but I also did all kinds of weird side gigs.”

He also admitted, “I was raised to be conservative in my spending habits, so I always seek a balance.”
“I’ve found, the least expensive things can be the most personally rewarding. Take my wedding, for example. The whole event cost a total of $500,” he explained.

“We didn’t feel the need to shell out a ton of cash and do anything over the top,” he says. “It was basically just a bunch of good friends getting together in Maui. I paid for some food and drinks, a few hundred bucks, and that was about it.”

Harrelson wed Laura Louie, who he met on the set of “Cheers” thirty years ago back in 2007.

It must be clarified that the $500 Harrelson and his wife spent did not cover the cost of actually getting to Maui or their rings.

“At the end of the day, it ain’t about how much it costs,” says Harrelson. “It’s about having great people in a
beautiful place and just … celebrating.”
