The Los Angeles Lakers Have Partnered up With LG to Do This
There’s a little less than two months left in the NBA off season and the Los Angeles Lakers just had some big news about their new practice facility.
The team has partnered up with LG Electronics USA as well as Vaha Energy to see that the Laker’s new practice facility is powered by LG solar panels.
Vaha Energy installed 456 of the 375W LG NeON 2 solar panels at the site of the 120,000 square foot facility.
The panels will generate an estimated 245,000 kWh annually. This is not only enough to power 35 homes for a year but is expected to create savings of about $38,000 annually.
Vaha has said that the solar installation is also expected to pay for itself in less than four years time.
According to Garry Wicka, the US head of marketing for LG Solar, the Lakers project is the very first professional training facility powered by LG Solar panels.
This is an exciting time for the Lakers which just nabbed Lebron James earlier this summer.
“We are thrilled with the addition of our new LG Solar panels,” said Joseph McCormack, chief financial officer and senior vice president of finance at the Lakers. “One of our goals as an organization is to be at the forefront of energy efficiency, and these panels further our commitment to sustainability.”
