Tesla’s Elon Musk Just Joined New Elite Social Media App Clubhouse

Can it be? A social media platform that the whole world isn’t on yet?

This seems to be the case for a new social media app that is starting to accumulate more and more attention and even by Tesla’s own CEO Elon Musk.

The app is called Clubhouse and is an audio social network that allows members to create audio rooms where people can listen and talk, or just listen, or just talk.

Clubhouse is now free to use and doesn’t show ads or offer paid services but you need an invitation to get in. After making its debut in 2020, Clubhouse is now valued at about $1 billion and hosts more than 2 million users.

With Clubhouse, there’s no video, pictures or text-based chat rooms. Users will log into the app and be greeted with a few live, virtual rooms, where they can see a list of the people participating. Once you click on the room, audio switches on and they can hear the conversation.

It was on Monday that Tesla CEO Elon Musk joined the platform to discuss a range of topics.

The app however is looking for ways to monetize the platform for its creators said CEO Paul Davison to CNBC this week.

“There’s so many incredible people who are smart, who are funny, who have domain expertise, who are really just great at bringing people together,” Davison said in a “Squawk Box” interview. “And what we want to allow them to do is to make a living directly on Clubhouse through things like subscriptions and ticketed events and receiving tips from listeners who are happy to pay them directly for the experiences that they’re creating for them.”

Davison said Monday that Clubhouse plans on introducing some sort of model “sooner rather than later.”
