Rupert Sanders Speaks Out On His Affair With Kristen Stewart

It was almost five years ago that Twilight fans were mortified to find out that Bella was cheating on Edward.

Okay, not Bella and not Edward, but the stars who play them in real life.

Kristen Stewart was dating her co-star Robert Pattinson, who portrayed Edward in the Twilight series, and yet was found kissing director Rupert Sanders.

Sanders was the director of her film Snow White and the Huntsmen.

Of course the photos were published in Us Weekly, and of course both stars made their apologies, but the damage was already done.

Sanders was married to Liberty Ross at the time, a model, and had two children with her. Ross filed for divorce and re-married.

Pattinson broke up with Stewart shortly after the scandal was revealed and is now engaged to musician FKA twigs.

Sanders had tried apologizing and said during the time, “I love them with all my heart. I am praying that we can get through this together.”

“I’m deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I’ve caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected,” said Stewart who was only 21 at the time. “This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him. I love him. I’m so sorry.”

Today, Sanders, 46, is the director of Ghost in the Shell with Scarlett Johansson.

“You never know what’s coming in life,” he told Metro. “Around every corner there’s something unexpected, and that’s life. You just have to brush yourself off and continue moving forward the best you can. Everyone makes mistakes. I am bound to make more mistakes, and I wouldn’t expect my life to be exciting if I didn’t.”

It doesn’t seem like Sanders is as apologetic today.. does it?

“If you took people off the table for a momentary lapse,” Sanders said, “there would be no one making art.”
