An MTV Reality Star Died After Shooting Himself In The Head

Mental illness is never easy and when it becomes too late to help the person, it’s even harder.

An MTV reality star committed suicide last month. His name was Clay Adler and he had appeared on 2 seasons of the MTV reality show Newport Harbor: The Real Orange County. He had also done some acting and was briefly friends with Jennifer Lawrence. He also appeared in “The Fish Tank” and “Make It or Break It” in 2009.

The 27-year old intentionally shot himself on a trip into the desert with friends according to TMZ.

Clay and his friends had gone shooting in the desert on March 25th. While in the middle of firing, TMZ learned that he turned the gun and shot himself in the head.

He died in the hospital the next day of the gunshot wound.

According to TMZ’s sources, there were no drugs or alcohol in Clay’s system but the man had troubles with mental illness before.

Adler’s friends and family paddled out into the water at Newport Beach last weekend to honor his life.

MTV released a statement in response to Clay Adler’s death:

“We are saddened by the news of Clay Adler’s passing,” the network said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this time.”
