Making Your Uber Driver Wait Will Cost You

Posted on

Taking too long on your hair? Stepped in gum outside your house? Uber doesn’t care. Be on time when your driver arrives is their new message.

The hit on-demand car service Uber is testing a program in certain locations that will make customers pay if their driver is still waiting two minutes after arriving at the pick up location. The customers will also be charged $5-10 for canceling after the two minute cancellation window.

Previously Uber had given riders a 5 minute window. Drivers are still required to wait five minutes before they can charge customers a no-show fee.

The pilot program is taking place in Phoenix, Dallas, New Jersey and New York City for now.
