This is How Many Oscars Netflix Snagged This Year
This year’s 93rd annual Academy Awards came and went this past Sunday, but not without awarding streaming giant Netflix with a flurry of awards.
The company snagged 7 awards and almost doubled its all-time Oscars tally. It also won the most of any distributor.
So what awards did Netflix walk away with? The company won two awards each for “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” as well as “Mank.” They also were awarded best live-action short, best animated short, and best documentary feature.
The streaming service’s film “Mank,” centers around “Citizen Kane” and led the pack with 10 nominations.
In all, the streaming service had 36 Oscar nominations across 17 films — the most of any distributor in the 2021 slate.

Best hairstyling and makeup for “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”
Best costume design for “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”
Best documentary feature for “My Octopus Teacher”
Best live-action short for “Two Distant Strangers”
Best animated short for “If Anything Happens I Love You”
Best production design for “Mank”
Best cinematography for “Mank”
Since 2013, Netflix has taken home 15 Oscars.
Disney won the second-highest tally and took home 5 awards this weekend.
