No, it’s not fake news. One of the princesses of reality television has met up with the president of the United States this week.
Kim Kardashian West went to Washington D.C. on Wednesday to meet with President Donald Trump over prison reform and sentencing.
Trump has already tweeted a picture of the meeting and called it a “great meeting.”
Many wonder what Kim Kardashian West and prison reform have in common, but surprisingly the reality star has been advocating for the commutation of Alice Marie Johnson’s prison sentence. Johnson had been given life in prison for a low-level drug offense.
Kardashian West tweeted on Wednesday, “Today is for you.”
Mrs. West also met with Trump’s senior adviser, Jared Kusher, as criminal justice reform is one of his policy goals.
Mrs. West also said of the meeting, “I would like to thank President Trump for his time this afternoon. It is our hope that the President will grant clemency to Ms. Alice Marie Johnson who is serving a life sentence for a first-time, non-violent drug offense.”
“We are optimistic about Ms. Johnson’s future and hopeful that she —and so many like her—will get a second chance at life.”
