Kathy Griffin Went Too Far With Severed Head of Trump
Kathy Griffin was fired from CNN and will not be appearing on the network’s annual New Year’s Eve broadcast after the comedian posed in pictures with a fake severed head that looked like President Trump.
The comedian went too far this time and backlash against her has continued to build. CNN’s public relations department announced their decision to fire her via Twitter and even Trump tweeted to Griffin and said, “Kathy Griffin should be ashamed of herself. My children, especially my 11 year old son, Barron, are having a hard time with this. Sick!”
Griffin apologized for what she did in a Twitter video and said, “I’m a comic… I move the line and then I cross it… I went way too far,” she said. “The image is too disturbing… I ask your forgiveness.”
According to spokesman George Fernandez in Los Angeles, the U.S. Secret Service has opened an inquiry into the posting of Griffin posing with the fake head.
“We’re aware of it and we’re investigating it,” he said to Reuters.
TMZ was the one to publish the behind the scenes video of Griffin posing with the model head for a photo shoot earlier in the week.
Even Chelsea Clinton came to President Trump’s defense and said, “This is vile and wrong. It is never funny to joke about killing a president.”
