Jeopardy’s James Holzhauer Will Likely Pay This Much in Taxes
James Holzhauer had been on a major winning streak on the hit game show Jeopardy but his fame came to an end on Monday.
Holzhauer was beaten by fellow contestant Emma Boettcher, a librarian from Chicago.
While America enjoyed watching the 34-year old professional gambler win show after show, now the question is how much does he owe in taxes after winning nearly $2.5 million in 33 appearances.
After federal and California state taxes, Holzhauer’s net winnings will be $1.29 million, representing a staggering 47.6% cut.
Even though Holzhauer is a resident of Nevada, Jeopardy took place in California, which means he must pay taxes in that state, said The Action Network reported
The contestant was $58,484 short of the all-time winnings record set by Ken Jennings back in 2004.
