Jay Leno Was In A Terrifying Car Wreck

Jay Leno may have retired from hosting late night television, but he’s back with a new show called Jay Leno’s Garage. In the very first episode, Leno gets into an intense wreck. What a way to start a season, huh?

Athough he walked away from the wreck, it was pretty intense and it was all caught on video footage.

In the episode, Leno gets the opportunity to drive the Hemi Under Glass stunt car with 80-year-old driver Bob Riggle. Hemi Under Glass is the name given to a series of exhibition drag racing cars campaigned by Hurst Performance between 1965 and 1975.

“This has been on my bucket list since I was a kid,” the 66-year-old comedian says. “After all these years, Bob is still my hero. Now, I love cars of all shapes and sizes, but believe me, this is one of my all-time favorites.”

In the clip, Leno says, “2500 horsepower! That’s right, 2500 horsepower on two wheels! What could go wrong?” Um.. a lot.

The two catch air on two wheels in the Hemi but when Riggle tries to turn, the car starts flipping and flips three times!

“Well, that was certainly exciting,” said Leno as he got out of the badly damaged car.

He went on to say, “Luckily, nobody got hurt. That shows you how good safety equipment is. Even that beautiful accident, thankfully, was saved.”

Jay Leno’s Garage airs on Wednesday at 10:00pm ET/PT on CNBC.
