James Bond Director Sam Mendes Quits, Is Daniel Craig Next?

Though he only directed the last two Bond flicks, Skyfall and Spectre, director Sam Mendes has said it was time for someone else to take over.

“I’m a storyteller. And at the end of the day, I want to make stories with new characters,” Mendes told the audience at a literature festival in Wales on Saturday.

“It was an incredible adventure. I loved every second of it, but I think it’s time for somebody else [to direct].”

Mendes said he was tired of working on James Bond films where it’s assumed that “Bond was going to survive”.

Daniel Craig, the face behind Bond in recent years, has not kept his distaste for another Bond movie well hidden. He has publicly claimed that he would rather slash his wrists than play the British spy again. Earlier this month, Daily Mail reported that Craig had rejected $137 million to play Bond in another two films. Could the 48-year old actor also be heading out of the franchise soon?
