On Tuesday, through its judiciary spokesman Gholamhossein Esmaili, Iran confirmed without a doubt it will be executing an individual by the name Amir Rahimpour, whom the court found guilty of spying for the CIA.

Iran claims Rahimpour was trying to pass confidential information to the CIA concerning the country’s nuclear program in Tehran.

Esmaili made the sentiments during an interview with Far News Agency moments after Iran Supreme Court made the ruling.

“Amir Rahimpour who was a CIA spy and got big pay and tried to present part of Iran’s nuclear information to the American service had been tried and sentenced to death and recently the Supreme Court upheld his sentence and he will see the consequences of his action soon,” said Esmaili.

Last year Iran announced it had dismantled a group of 17 spies that was spying for the CIA, further sentencing a number of them to death. With reference to this President Trump said the claim of Iran capturing the spies is totally false.

Tension between U.S and Iran has been rising since U.S President Donald Trump pulled out of the Tehran’s nuclear program, the tensions have escalated further following killing of Iranian military commander Qassem Soleimani by the U.S in a drone strike at the beginning of the year.
