Remember that skin tight beaded gown that Marilyn Monroe wore when she sang “Happy Birthday’ to President John F. Kennedy? The dress is heading to auction this fall.

According to Juliens Auction’s, the auction house that will auction the dress off, the gown could collect anywhere from $2 to $3 million.

Monroe wore the dress to Kennedy’s 45th birthday celebration at Madison Square Garden in on May 19th, 1962. This is a custom made dress that Monroe had to be sewn into, that’s how tight it was.

It was less than three months after the celebrating that Monroe passed away after overdosing on sleeping pills.

The dress formerly belonged to late financier Martin Zweig who purchased it 17 years ago for $1.26 million. He had kept it in a climate-controlled display case at his Pierre Hotel penthouse in New York. It is being sold by his estate. Zweig had the dress professionally mounted on a mannequin and it has been preserved since.
