Elton John Cancels Performances After Being Hospitalized
Oh no, Rocket Man singer Elton John has been hospitalized due to a rare illness. The performer had to subsequently cancel all of his Las Vegas performances through next month because of it.
The performer has been head-linining in Vegas with his “The Millionar Dollar Piano” show at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace and had to cancel the entire performance schedule for the upcoming April/May run. He also canceled his scheduled performance for Bakersfield on May 6th.
According to the statement from Rogers and Cowan, John became sick after his South American tour. He contracted a rare bacterial infection and was “violently ill” on his flight back from Chili. The singer spent two nights in intensive care after being admitted to a hospital in the U.K. where he lives.
After being released on Saturday, John said in a statement, “I am so fortunate to have the most incredible and loyal fans and apologise for disappointing them. I am extremely grateful to the medical team for their excellence in looking after me so well.”
He is now resting “comfortably resting at home per doctor’s advice,” and is expected to fully recovery so he can resume performing at Twickenham on June 3rd in England.
Tickets to the Las Vegas shows are being refunded to those who purchased.
