Demi Moore Gets Hit With Lawsuit Over Swimming Pool Death
Remember when someone drowned in Demi Moore’s swimming pool? Okay, many of us don’t. It happened way back in 2015 when Demi Moore wasn’t even home.
In July of 2015, 21-year old Edenilson Steven Valle was found dead at the bottom of Moore’s pool after a small party. Moore wasn’t home during the time but she told People later that it was an “unthinkable tragedy.”
“I was out of the country traveling to meet my daughters for a birthday celebration when I got this devastating news,” Moore said. “The loss of a child is an unthinkable tragedy, and my heart goes out to this young man’s family and friends.”
The death had been determined to be accidental, but Jorge and Maria Valle, Edenilson’s parents, have filed a
wrongful-death suit against Tree House Trust, which owns the property. The lawsuit is also against Moore’s personal assistant and another person who threw the party together, and most recently, against Moore herself.
The parents say the actress allegedly failed to place depth markers near what they believe was an “excessively deep” pool. They also blame the rocks by the pool’s edge and cite it as a tripping hazard and say that the alcohol and the pool’s “dangerously high” temperature played a part in their son’s death.
According to TMZ, law enforcement at the time said that Edenilson told other guests and hosts that he could not swim.
Valle’s parents are seeking damages of more than $25,000.
