Chris Noth Sexual Assault Allegations Prompt Peloton to Remove Ad
Exercise equipment maker Peloton has removed a viral ad starring “Sex and the City’s” Chris Noth from all of its social media accounts after the star was accused of sexual assault on two women.
The allegations, which surfaced on Thursday, were denied by Noth. One incident allegedly happened in 2004 while another in 2015. Noth says both “encounters were consensual.”
“Every single sexual assault accusation must be taken seriously,” Peloton said in a statement.
“We were unaware of these allegations when we featured Chris Noth in our response to HBO’s reboot” of the show. “As we seek to learn more, we have stopped promoting this video and archived related social posts.”
The Hollywood Reporter reported the allegations, with an article stating that the two women approached the publication separately, months apart, and did not know each other. They told the media outlet that promotions and press reports for the new “Sex and the City” sequel brought back painful memories of the incidents.
The premiere episode of the HBO Max series “And Just Like That” brought Chris Noth back to the show as Mr. Big.
One purportedly occurred in Los Angeles in 2004 and the other allegedly took place in New York in 2015.
The Hollywood Reporter had given the women psuedonyms and did not write their real names.
“It’s difficult not to question the timing of these stories coming out,” Noth said. “I don’t know for certain why they are surfacing now, but I do know this: I did not assault these women.”
“The accusations against me made by individuals I met years, even decades, ago are categorically false,” Noth said in his statement. “These stories could’ve been from 30 years ago or 30 days ago — no always means no — that is a line I did not cross.”
