Carrie Fisher Dead At 60 – The World Just Lost Princess Leia

Iconic actress Carrie Fisher has succumbed after suffering a heart attack last week on a flight from London to LAX. The actress was 60 years old.

Family spokesman Simon Halls released a statement to PEOPLE on behalf of Billie Lourd, Fisher’s daughter with talent agent Bryan Lourd:

“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning. She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”

Fisher had been in a hospital since suffering a heart attack on Friday, Dec. 23rd.

She rose to fame with Star Wars in 1977 and played Princess Leia. She was only 19 years old.

Next to her daughter, Fisher leaves behind her mother, showbiz legend Debbie Reynolds who is 84 years old.
