Angelina Jolie Is In A Scandal Over Adopted Son Maddox

Angelina Jolie has had a rough few months, since she filed for divorce from Brad Pitt. She now is making headlines for an adoption scandal involving her eldest son Maddox.

Jolie had adopted him from Cambodia in 2003 and according to a man named Mounh Sarath, an aid worker, he was listed as the boy’s father on his adoption papers, despite this not being true. This was all done in order to speed up the adoption.

“She had to change his name, so the only way was for me to do it. I said he’s my son,” he explained. Sarath says Jolie never corrected this even though she was supposed to.

According to the Sun, Sarath produced the document he’d filed with a court in Battambang, Cambodia, in August 2003. The document has confirmed the court considered him the father.

The 51-year-old aid is now arguing that he actually still has power of attorney over the 15-year-old boy.

Jolie has made it public that she made sure Maddox did not have a mother during the adoption. “I would never rob a mother of her child. I can only imagine how dreadful that would feel.”

“Personally, I prefer to stay on the right side of the law. I would never take a child away from a place where adoption is illegal.”

What does this mean for Jolie right now is uncertain.

Jolie is a Cambodian citizen since 2005 but according to Sarath, he would be happy if Cambodia didn’t see her again.
