Walmart Will Be Closing This Many Sam’s Clubs Locations

A few dozen Sam’s Clubs locations will be shutting their doors this year.

Walmart is closing 63 locations across the country with several stores already closing their doors on Thursday according to a CNBC spokesperson.

Apparently not all of the retailer’s employees were even given any notification in advance about the closings.

According to a spokesperson, ten to twelve of the closed stores may be converted into e-commerce facilities.
Walmart just announced that it would also be raising its starting wages and that some of its employees would be getting bonuses.

The company will be using the savings it makes from the new tax legislation to raise employees’ starting wages and offer bonuses to staff. This includes employees at Sam’s Club.

Even those employees effected by the Sam’s Clubs closing would still be eligible for the bonuses.
