Walmart Offers Employees College Education Perk for $1 a Day

Walmart is partnering up with Guild Education, a tuition reimbursement and education platform, to help its employees get a college education without the high costs.

The retail giant announced at its annual shareholders meeting this week that it will begin subsidizing the cost of higher education for its employees who have never earned a college degree before.

Already in effect, employees who enroll and study at either the University of Florida, Brandman University or Bellevue University, will be able to take advantage of the new benefit.

Employees must contribute $1 per day to their tuition, 365 days a year, and study either business or supply chain management, at one of the three universities.

According to Walmart, there may be as many as 68,000 of its employees that initially could sign up for the new college program. Walmart employs 1.5 million in the U.S. alone.
