Under Armour Says Data Breach Stole Info From 150 Million MyFitnessPal Accounts

Under Armour had a big announcement on Thursday. The retail apparel company announced that data had been stolen from around 150 million MyFitnessPal app accounts.

Under Armour purchased MyFitnessPal back in 2015 for $475 million.

The data from the diet and fitness app had been compromised last month and is one of the biggest hacks in history. According to SecurityScorecard, the breach is the largest so far in 2018.

Information such as user names, email addresses, and scrambled passwords had been stolen according to a statement from the company.

Under Armour did assure though that social security numbers as well as drivers license numbers and payment card data was not compromised in the breach.

Under Armour said that it is working with data security firms and law enforcement. Shares of the stock went into the red in after-hours trading.

“We continue to monitor for suspicious activity and to coordinate with law enforcement authorities,” the company stated.
