Tyson Foods is Going After Beyond Meat With These Products

Beyond Meat made its debut in the market last month and what a debut it was, soaring almost 200%.

Tyson Foods isn’t taking things lying down however and is going after the company by launching its own plant-based products.

Tyson Foods, which is the largest meat producer in the U.S., announced this will that it will be debuting several new plant-based products under the Raised & Rooted brand.

This summer nuggets will debut at several undisclosed major retailers and blended burgers will debut on shelves in the fall.

New CEO Noel White stated, “Today’s consumers are seeking more protein options so we’re creating new products for the growing number of people open to flexible diets that include both meat- and plant-based protein. For us, this is about ‘and’ – not ‘or.’ We remain firmly committed to our growing traditional meat business and expect to be a market leader in alternative protein, which is experiencing double-digit growth and could someday be a billion-dollar business for our company.”

Ironically Tyson Foods had unloaded its 6.5% stake in Beyond Meat ahead of the company’s IPO last month.
