Thousands of Oracle Employees Protested Trump Fundraiser
Over 2,300 employees at Oracle had signed a petition that is against a fundraiser for President Trump’s 2020 re-election campaign.
The campaign was scheduled to be held on Wednesday at a Southern California property owned by founder and chairman Larry Ellison.
According to the employees, Trump’s behavior doesn’t align with Oracle’s stated values, like ethics and mutual respect.
Petitioners had wanted Ellison, currently Oracle’s chief technology officer, to cancel Wednesday’s event.
“Ellison’s financial support of Donald Trump endangers the well-being of women, immigrants, communities of color, the environment, LGBTQ and trans communities, disabled people, and workers everywhere,” the petition reads.
“Additionally, his alliance with this ignoble and destructive figure damages our company culture as well as our relationships with partners and customers.”
The employees also demanded that Ellison and his company donate an amount of money equal to whatever Wednesday’s event raises to humanitarian causes and to organizations that oppose Trump administration policies that they say contradict Oracle’s “values.”
The group stated, “We are Oracle employees disappointed that Oracle Founder and CTO Larry Ellison’s support of and planned fundraiser for Donald Trump does not affirm Oracle’s core values of diversity, inclusiveness, and ethical business conduct.”
