Target to Launch its Largest Brand Good & Gather
This week big box retailer Target announced that it is launching its biggest brand yet, Good & Gather, with over 2,000 items.
Target’s stores will be selling various products next month under the new label, including milk, eggs, and even avocado toast salad. The label will become the company’s flagship food brand.
According to USA Today, all of the company’s 1,800 plus locations will stock the brand across the country and by the end of 2020, the brand will include more than 2,000 products.
Stephanie Lundquist, a Target executive vice president and president of food and beverage said the brand would be Target’s largest store brand launch.
“Our guests are incredibly busy and want great-tasting food they can feel good about feeding their families,” Lundquist said.
She added, “We really wanted the brand to represent the quality and the value that guests can expect.”
The Good & Gather promise is: “Love every bite or your money back.”
“It’s really about making sure the ingredients are whole so it’s easy (for consumers) to know what they’re buying,” Lundquist also said.
In an interview with Yahoo Finance’s On The Move, Barclays managing director Karen Short, said that Target has gotten its momentum back with strong online and in-store traffic and said that its omni-channel selling strategy is working.
But “I”m not so sure its a destination for food, its kind of, if you’re already there you’re going to buy food,” she also said. “I would say they’ve definitely strengthened the rest of their business but they probably need to do a little more work on the food side.”
Target is expected to report its second quarter financial report on Wednesday ahead of the open.
