Pizza Hut Will Acquire QuikOrder to Learn About its Customers

Pizza maker Pizza Hut has announced that it will acquire QuikOrder, an online ordering software and service provider.

The amount hasn’t been disclosed but is the second deal this year for the company’s parent company, Yum Brands, to learn about its customers. The announcement also said its one of the company’s biggest acquisitions to date.

According to Yum Brands CFO David Gibbs, QuikOrder will allow the pizza chain to accelerate growth.
In 2018, about half of Pizza Hut’s American sales were processed through the platform, according to announcement.

Artie Starrs, president of Pizza Hut U.S., told investors this week that he is “dissatisfied” with Pizza Hut’s growth as same-store sales continue to lag.

“If you have a problem with your products, you can fix that overnight,” Gibbs told CNBC. “If you have a problem with your assets, you have to fix that over time.”

The company has plans to renovate around 550 restaurants in the U.S. each year.
