More People Are Tuning in to Whatsapp for Their News According to Study
Whatsapp, the messenger that Facebook acquired for $16 billion back in 2014, is attracting many Facebook users for its news.
According to a study by the Oxford University’s Reuters Institute, Facebook has seen a decline of 6% around the globe since 2016 until now. From 2017 to 2018, use of Facebook news dropped 7% in the United States.
Instead the study says that consumers are finding messaging services like WhatsApp more appealing.
According to the Reuters Institute, users were more willing to share and engage in news content on messenger platforms.
Polling organization YouGov surveyed over 74,000 people across 37 markets to collect data for the Reuters Institute study.
