Microsoft Just Decided to Acquire Movere for This Reason
Looking to help businesses move work to the cloud, tech giant Microsoft has decided to buy the start up Movere.
Movere’s technology supports companies that are moving to the public cloud. This includes Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services.
Microsoft reported the news in a blog post on Wednesday that it bought Movere to make “migration an easier process for our customers.”
Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.
“We believe that successful cloud migrations enable business transformation, and this acquisition underscores our investments to make that happen,” Jeremy Winter, partner director for Azure management at Microsoft, wrote in the post.
Winter also wrote, “We’re committed to providing our customers with a comprehensive experience for migrating existing applications and infrastructure to Azure, which include the right tools, processes, and programs. As part of that ongoing investment, we’re excited to welcome the leadership, talent, technology, and deep expertise Movere has built in enabling customers’ journey to the cloud over the last 11 years.”
Founded in 2008, Novere’s customers include 21st Century Fox, AT&T, IBM and McDonald’s, according to the company’s website.
Movere CEO Kristin Ireland wrote, “Today, it is my great pleasure to announce that Movere has been acquired by Microsoft. When we started the company nearly 11 years ago, we were a consulting company that ambitiously wanted to change an industry; to live our passion; and to unleash our customers’ potential. Our relentless drive to do things better and faster pivoted our consulting practice toward enabling our customers to do more with data, and in turn to the relentless automation of data collection. Our goal to provide deeper customer value by providing actionable data and insights was realized with the launch of Movere: giving customers the power of the story that only data can tell.”
“From the beginning, the team at Microsoft has been some of our staunchest advocates and have brought together many of our customers and partners. With our growing and fabulous team focused on enabling the best possible customer outcomes, we continued to build on top of an already powerful platform; always driving to help customers enjoy the best migration experience possible.”
She also said, “The acquisition by Microsoft is not just a marriage of a best-in-class and trusted cloud platform with a powerful data and insights platform; it is also the merge of passions of two companies looking to move mountains for customers through a deep partner ecosystem, with the ultimate goal of enabling your business transformation delivered at the speed of light.”
