Lowe’s Website and J.Crew’s Website Go Down on Black Friday
One of the worst things a retailer can experience on Black Friday is to not have their website work so buyers can scoop up merchandise.
Home improvement retailer Lowe’s saw its website “down for maintenance” on one of the busiest shopping days of the year. Lowe’s tweeted, “We apologize our website is down for maintenance. It will be available soon. If you need assistance with an order, please contact Lowe’s Customer Care at 1-800-445-6937 (Monday – Saturday, 7:00 a.m. – 2:00 a.m. Sunday 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.)”
Shoppers were so frustrated that they threatened to go to rivals like Home Depot and Sears instead. One Twitter user, @goldendonkey83 wrote, “Lowe’s, can you at least provide an ETA on the website fix so I can stop refreshing every 30 seconds like an idiot?” Another user, @SAsportsPics wrote, “since @Lowes is down I’m gonna go to @Sears and @HomeDepotDeals #BlackFriday”
J. Crew also had difficulties with its website earlier in the day. The company tweeted in the morning,
“Happy Black Friday! Due to high demand, we’re experiencing some technical difficulties with our site right now. Apologies to anyone having a problem…we’re working to fix it ASAP!”
