Is Pepsi (PEP) Finally Ditching Sugar?
PepsiCo announced last week that by 2025, two thirds of its drinks will have 100 calories or fewer from added sugar, per 12 oz serving.
This is a huge change considering that right now 40% of the company’s drinks do have sugar.
It was back in April that the company’s CEO Indra Nooyi stated that less than 25% of the company’s global sales are from soda. This is the “naturally nutritious” category, which includes bottled water and unsweetened drinks.
Nooyi has said the focus on more healthy products would be “future-proofing” Pepsi’s portfolio, and “reshaping it to capitalize on consumers’ increasing interest in health and wellness.”
