Intel May Be Interested in Acquiring Broadcom
According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, Intel may be considering a bid for Broadcom.
The WSJ, citing sources close to the matter, has reported that the chip maker is monitoring Broadcom’s
pursuit of Qualcomm.
According to the sources, the company is weighing a range of acquisition options which includes the potential bid for Broadcom.
After the news, shares of Intel hit the red in after-hours trading while Broadcom shares rose over 6%.
Broadcom has been aggressively after Qualcomm.
A spokeswoman for Intel told CNBC tha they do not comment on these kind of matters. She stated, “That being said, we have made important acquisitions over the past 30 months — including Mobileye and Altera — and our focus is on integrating those acquisitions and making them successful for our customers and shareholders.”
