HP (HPQ) To Buy Samsung’s Electronics Co. Printer Business
In a transaction worth $1.05 billion, HP will be acquiring Samsung Electronics Co.’s printer business, which includes more than 6,500 printing patents.
HP announced on Monday that this purchase would be the company’s biggest printer acquisition in its history. The transaction will help HP go from traditional copiers to multifunction printers. According to HP, the purchase will also strengthen its position in laser printing.
The deal is expected to close within a year.
Shares of HP have risen 15.7% over the past year.
